Our History
Tree Care Incorporated is an ISA Member and TCIA Accredited tree care company founded in 1962 and headquartered in Rancho Cordova, California, serving the greater Sacramento Valley for over 60 years.
Our roots go back to 1962, when Austin B. Carroll founded his own tree service and quickly earned a reputation as a trusted expert and protector of trees across the Sacramento region. His son, Willie Carroll, later took the reins, growing Austin B. Carroll & Son into one of Northern California’s most respected arboricultural companies. That company merged with Sta-Green Tree Service to form Tree Care Incorporated, combining decades of hands-on expertise under one name. For over 60 years, from Austin B. Carroll’s first truck in 1962 to today, that lineage has stood for quality, integrity, and genuine care for the trees and communities we serve.
A New Chapter, the Same Standards
On August 1, 2026, ownership of Tree Care Incorporated transitions to four new owners, with 50+ combined years of dedicated employment to this company and its standards:

Willie Carroll and co-owner Marsha Banta are retiring after decades of dedicated service. Rather than sell to an outside buyer, they made the deliberate choice to offer an employee buyout, ensuring TCI’s name, reputation, and values stay exactly where they belong: with the people who built them. Willie has deep ties with this company, and customers with long-time relationships will still be able to contact him with ongoing projects, questions, or concerns. He will retain his current cell phone number and can be contacted through our office.

Tree Care Incorporated is fully licensed and bonded, holding California Contractor’s License #475196 and California Pest Control Business License #32525, and is a TCIA Accredited company staffed by ISA Certified Arborists. But credentials only tell part of the story. What hasn’t changed in over 60 years is our commitment to:
